Delight Leadership Covenant

Heartbeat

Our mission at Delight is to invite college women into Christ-centered communities that foster vulnerability and transform stories. And we believe that these thriving, God-focused, and Spirit-filled communities start with you, the leadership team. That’s why we have a Leader Covenant, because we are all-in for God’s heart for Delight and we want you to be fully equipped to lead with purpose, passion, and integrity.

Below, we have listed the leadership standards we invite all of our Delight leaders to commit to as they serve their communities. These are not just a set of rules or avenues for pride or disunity. In fact, we know that every single one of us falls short of God’s glorious standard (Romans 3:23). Instead, these are Biblical glimpses into God’s idea of leadership that we believe will call our leadership teams higher as they chase after Jesus together.

[Please note that this covenant and its standards are specifically for Delight leaders. All women with similar and different beliefs are welcome to be a part of Delight. After all, we are a ministry that is all about invitationality and the power of welcoming all college women into Christ-centered community!]

If you do not feel able to commit yourself to these standards in this season, that is okay! There is no shame in stepping down from leadership for a time so that you can pursue your relationship with the Lord. But, if you do commit to these standards, we ask that you are open to accountability as you lead your chapter to the feet of Jesus.

If you have any questions or require clarification about any area of this Leader Covenant, please reach out to your Regional Director.

This contract is a formal agreement that I am committing to being a Delight Leader for the 2024/2025 school year. I understand that I represent a national organization and will be held accountable to uphold Delight’s leadership standards and organizational requirements.

Statement of Belief

+ The Bible

We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired word of God, written by human authors through the power of the Holy Spirit, and is completely trustworthy and authoritative for our lives today. We rely on God’s word to teach us, inspire us and help us to know and live like Jesus.

+ The Trinity

We believe in the one true God revealed to us in the Bible, who is three persons -- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is Creator, Redeemer and Ruler of all. God the Father reigns over and cares for his creation, all are welcome to be his child. God the Son, Jesus, is the full revelation of God to us, he is our redemption, our truest friend, and will return one day to make all things new. God the Holy Spirit dwells in God’s people, sealing our salvation, guiding us and empowering us to live a life of boldness!

+ The Gospel

We believe God created humans to be in a perfect relationship with himself for eternity. God created us with the freedom of choice, but since the beginning we chose to go against God’s good plan for our relationship with him; this is known as sin. Therefore, God sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to reconcile us back to him. Jesus lived a sinless life, died the death we deserved, and rose again on the third day in accordance with the word of God. God demonstrates his love for us, that while we were still sinners Christ died for us. We believe we are saved for eternal life by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. On Earth we are now workers for God’s Kingdom, ushering in his good news that Jesus saves and breaks all our chains!

+ The Local Church

We believe God calls his children to be in relationship with one another as the living body of Christ. This happens in local churches where Christians gather to worship God, to grow, to serve, and to be known by each other intimately. We know Delight is not the church and want to encourage college women to be connected to all types of gospel-preaching churches.

+ Unity

We believe in unity under the name of Jesus despite how divided our world and church is today. We choose to lay down our differences of opinions for the Kingdom no matter how difficult. We believe the church is made up of all ages, sexes, tribes, tongues and nations. We honor Jesus by loving others just like he loves them.

Moral Standards

I will first and foremost pursue a deep relationship with Jesus Christ with a desire to live more like Him. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

This includes…

  • Spending intentional time with the Lord and in the Word outside of Delight

  • Getting involved with a local church

I will be honest with my Delight leadership team and Regional Director about any sin in my life and allow them to hold me accountable. (James 5:16)

This includes…

  • Stepping back from leadership if I am no longer able to fulfill the standards detailed in this Leadership Covenant

  • Being open to conviction from the Lord and correction from my peers and Regional Director

I acknowledge that I am called to a higher standard and will reflect this truth in my everyday life through my actions and behavior and on my social media accounts. (1 Timothy 3:1-13)

This includes…

  • Not posting about the consumption of alcohol or anything else that may cause a sister-in-Christ to stumble

  • Doing my best to live above reproach in every area of my life, not just during Delight gatherings

I align with the Biblical view of certain topics as agreed upon by Delight’s leadership.

This includes…

  • Refraining from the consumption of alcohol when underage and utilizing self-control and discernment if deciding to partake in alcohol when over 21. We believe the Bible calls us to never be drunk. (Ephesians 5:18)

  • Maintaining purity before marriage. This means we commit to abstaining from sexual promiscuity before marriage, including living with your boyfriend, or consuming pornography. (1 Thessalonians 4:3-8)

  • Submitting to God’s idea of gender and marriage as it applies to transgenderism and same-sex relationships. I will choose not to engage in a same sex relationship or live as a different biological sex than assigned at birth. (Genesis 1:27)

I agree to come under the authority and leadership of Delight Ministries as it applies to the beliefs and standards recorded in this Leadership Covenant.

This includes…

  • Putting aside other theological beliefs as well as political agendas while leading and representing Delight in order to create an invitational environment for all women on my campus to experience

Organizational Standards

I will attend both the Delight Leadership meetings and the Delight Chapter gatherings held each week. If I am not able to attend, I will communicate this with my leadership team in advance with a valid excuse.

I will use the Delight Leaders Resources page to best understand and execute my role on the leadership team. (www.delightleaders.com)

I will represent the Delight Ministries name, brand, logo, content, and resources well.

I will utilize the Delight curriculum each semester as the weekly Bible study, committing to engage with the curriculum on my own as well as in weekly gatherings.

I will stay in close contact with my Regional Director and answer any emails, texts, phone calls in a timely manner.

I, along with my team, will encourage ALL participants to purchase the Delight curriculum.

I will not create or sell any merchandise using the Delight brand and logo and I will not sell anything that Delight HQ sells so as not to compete.

Thank you for stepping into leadership with Delight Ministries! Remember, this covenant is not about striving for perfection, but is instead an invitation for us to pursue holiness in Jesus together. We are honored to have you on the Delight Ministries team and we cannot wait to come alongside you as you make Jesus known on your campus.
